I said : "sure, thank you". She said: " Oh, I just need to see an ID". I thought, okay, sometimes you do need to show your ID...She took my driver's license and started typing. I asked : "Are you taking my address?" She just nonchalantly said: "Yes miss". I am a 50 year old woman, with 2 University degrees , but alas, I came from Europe 20 years ago and still have an accent. Maybe she thought I sounded stupid enough and she didn't need to give me any details. Than she hands me a slip to sign- for a magazine subscription, I don't even know which magazine she subscribed me for, because she never said anything. So I ask: " what is this?" She said: " Oh, your subscription, you will get a free issue and then you can cancel it at any time." I said " did we, at any time, talk about a subscription?" I didn't ask for you to subscribe me to any magazine, I do not want a subscription. She said:" You can cancel it after 2 months, you can call this number here and cancel!" . I said: I don't want to call and cancel something that I didn't agree on, that I didn't ask for! Why didn't you just say- we have this great offer, if you would like I can subscribe you right now and in the future, if you don't like it, you can cancel it? That would have been simple, and HONEST! What kind of training do you give your employees, you just ask them to find ways to subscribe people just to meet a quota? When I asked about the store manager, a young lady by the name of Amanda came ( from the name tag, which a store manager probably wouldn't wear, or she would introduce herself as the manager, or the MOD, or shift manager). She didn't introduced herself or anything, just asked what the problem was. She also tried to convince me that I could cancel my subscription after 2 months, and when I told her that I didn't want the subscription she said that she will cancel it for me, just to give her my name. My name was written on the slip she was holding...definitely not the store manager. Wouldn't you rather be honest and have that customer come back? Needless to say I won't return to your store and I will let everyone I know about this incident. It bothered us to see that none of your employees are racially diverse, but at least teach them to say the right things!
Among my favorite book stores. Staff is great, selection is good and trade prices are fair. I frequent many used book stores and this is a great spot to browse and pick up decent books.
I have been a frequent customer in this store for the past 2 years. We buy a lot of books because my daughter is a history student at Oakland University. Most of the time the selection of the books was impressive and we were happy to come back every couple of weeks. Today was definitely different. Checking out at the register, the employee by the name of Shawna said : "As a thank you for your purchase we would like to offer you a free magazine, you can choose from this selection ".
This business replaced the old Borders that closed down and boy am I glad they did. This is hands down my wife and my favorite place ever. They have awesome prices on everything, sometimes hard to find books and lots of comic books! Most comics are $.95 and seem to be in good condition. Definitely worth a look.
Bookstores are disappearing fast so it is hard to find one. This bookstore huge and has it all. Novelity items, movies, t-shirts, new and used books and so much more. They also do book buy back or trade ins. Love this store.
Nice bookstore featuring discount prices on books, media, vinyl albums, comic books, pop clothing and some educational toys. Cafe has many usual bookstore fare items posted on a chalkboard menu. Parking is free and close. Handicap parking and Wheelchair entrance and accessible restrooms are available. Check out is quick and efficient. They do accept cash, debit, and credit cards.
